Dewatering Equipment

After sprouts have been hulled, excess water needs to be removed prior to shipping. Dewatering is only necessary if you use a water bath method (ISS Bean Sprout Washing System), but it has been demonstrated to extend the shelf life of bean sprouts by as much as 40% over wet sprouts.

Although there are multiple ways to dewater bean sprouts, the air knife method is most popular with large growers because it is an in-line process that requires a minimal amount of labor and cleanup.
