Sprouts Alive and SunSprout Brands of Sprouts May Contain Salmonella Bacteria
(According to the CanadianFood Inspection Agency, the following recall was the result of CFIA randomproduct testing in grocery stores. BR)

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning consumers not to consume”Sprouts Alive” and “sun sprout” brands of sprouts bearingthe code EX27 03, because the products may contain the bacteria responsible for salmonellosisin humans.
The following products are affected:

The manufacturer, Sunsprout Natural Foods, Oakville, Ontario, isvoluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The affectedproducts have been distributed in Ontario and New Brunswick.
Food contaminated with Salmonella will not look or smellspoiled. Salmonellosis is a potentially life-threatening illness caused by Salmonellabacteria. Young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systemsare particularly at risk. Common symptoms of Salmonella infection are nausea,vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea although more serious consequences arepossible.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with theconsumption of these products.
